Urgent Appeal

The unexpected second wave of COVID-19 infection has a huge impact on the lives and livelihood of every citizen in the unorganized sector. As a result of the lockdown imposed from 10th May 2021, the livelihood of common people started to be affected. There was no time to plan and set up an alternative for many of the daily-wage labourers in the chosen target area. Words cannot express the plight of the common men who solely depend on their daily income; normal life shut unexpectedly.

The common man is affected without sufficient resources; due to the unexpected sudden lockdown, the flow of income and managing with borrowing from friends and others was also curtailed. Besides, there are recurring expenses such as house rent. The target community had not recovered from the loss incurred during the lockdown of the previous year.

ICDM has experience in handling such situations, and we plan to intervene for 250 families — the most vulnerable community — by providing dry rations initially for one month; after the relaxation of lockdown, an alternative will be planned.
